I might be one of the few people who doesn't really *know* anyone personally who have suffered from AIDS. However, I've had the pleasure of reading [livejournal.com profile] ruralrob's journal the last couple of months. Linking to post from this morning is the best way I know to honor World Aids Day.

I lost a high school classmate (one of about 65) to AIDS, as well as a college classmate (one of about 650--he's just the one I knew, there were certainly others). Another close friend (groomsman in my wedding) lost his father to AIDS. They all died in the 80's or very early 90's.

Those of us in our early 40's grew up in the teeth of AIDS. The meds have made a huge difference.

Thank you so much. Speading the word, spreading awareness, spreading caring is so very important. Simply put, it saves lives.
