Such an exciting day I had!

I met parisgarters! My first real-life LJ meeting (except for sarchasmic). We had a wonderful chat over some yummy apple cider. I've got to get to New York soon so we can have a proper visit.

I was trying to squeeze down this very narrow street on the way home from meeting parisgarters when my car's mirror bumped another car's mirror. Luckily both mirrors were okay.

I did some work for Tim and I got to hear something that I know some of you would like to hear. :)

Went to church and heard an excellent sermon on marriage. I file information like this away for future reference. We also got a sneak peek of the movie. You know which one I'm talking about.

I had some yummy homemade jambalaya (sp?)

Realized that Duran Duran lyrics don't make any more sense than they did when I was thirteen.

Simon LeBon's lyrics never made sense. He looked good and sang well. His lyrics... well... two out of three ain't bad!

That's cool that you met an LJ friend. Aside from my 3 or so real life friends who joined LJ, and 2 internet-only friends who joined LJ, and 2 "met through nanowrimo, friended in LJ" friends, I've now met 3 LJ-only friends. It's an interesting experience.

I always imagine that Duran Duran lyrics are more stage directions for a video than actual lyrics. What a fun, silly band.

The hullballoo over "that film" befuddles me. I am in neither camp, other than the camp that perhaps will go see another movie.

The Passion of The Christ (http://www.ThePassionOfTheChrist.com) is in theaters soon - this week on Wednesday.. what do you think about this movie? I'm going to see it for sure - the trailers (http://www.thepassion.tv) were enough to convince me. I read somewhere that it's the widest opening ever for a subtitled movie; I have a feeling subtitles won't detract from the full effect of this movie though. After looking at the trailers which have no subtitles or english at all, it was reinforced for me that lack of spoken english in this film won't hurt one bit. To sum up my impression of The Passion: it's a work of art.

Another fascinating aspect to this movie is all the controversy that has been generated about it.
Some people, not really representative of Jewish people, but rather self appointed Jewish spokespeople, such as Abraham Foxman from the Anti-Defamation League, seem to have been attempting to denounce this film for months as being anti-Semitic. The news reported that they even stole the script last year! But here's what some Jews say (Jews who don't make it their job to tear apart other people): by Rabbi Daniel Lapin.

Nice to see some people speaking rationally.

I've seen lots of anonymous comments promoting this movie around LJ. I'm not sure what agenda, exactly, they're trying to advance: if anything, spam ought to turn people against it.
