A complicated kindness by Miriam Toews
Jan. 31st, 2005 06:57 pmIn the interest of trying to keep this LJ interesting I'm going to make an effort to write a little about the books and movies I read/watch.
I just finished reading A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews.
It's a about a young Mennonite (no need to adjust your glasses
bona) girl trying to survive in a small Manitoba town in the midst of religious fundamentalism, burgeoning sexuality and grief over the disappearance of her mother and sister.
(Disclaimer: I know I'm not very good at writing book reviews but be assured that if I'm taking the time to write about them they're well worth reading/watching. Just trust me. Besides if you get the book for free from your local public library like you should, it won't cost you a red cent to read it)
Next up on the reading list: Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
Currently listening to the audiobook of: The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul (Dirt on Kobe and Shaq!)
Next movie to watch: Hero
