I might be walking or running a half or full marathon to raise money for leukemia research. I rarely exercise so I don't know what I can convince my body to do in a few months.

You might ask why in the name of the Almighty would I do such a thing

(in no particular order)

1. My mother died as a result of a bone marrow transplant to treat her leukemia
2. I donated bone marrow to a young boy who had leukemia.
3. I need to get my butt in shape
4. [livejournal.com profile] costello1177 made me do it (not really :))
5. I really need a personal challenge like this, like I think God is calling me to trust him/her in this
6. My mama would have been proud as hell of me
7. It would get me out of the house. I could especially spend the next few months obsessing over the election and the Cubs.

I might completely change my mind after the informational meeting I'm attending tomorrow night. So nevermind me.

Cubs

Ah, you're one of those. That's one of the purest forms of theology ... ;)

I've learned so much about suffering as a Cubs fan :)

LOL. Well, they're my choir director's team--so if you've read any of my entries at all you know that that puts you ever so slightly closer to God ... ;-D

Me, too.

I understand we get a discount on our years in purgatory for being Cubs fans.

On the marathon thing, I think it is do-able, provided you have time (each week) to train up to it. There are several excellent books out there with detailed plans of how to get there.

As a current leukemia patient, I've got a soft spot for this sort of thing. ^_~

P.S.: I haven't commented much, but I wanted to let you know that I have been keeping up with your posts. Take care.
