wow, thanks for that! i started reading "franky" back in the '80s, when he was still a protestant. always a contrarian, i think, but always provocative too. i like his thoughts on the film. he's right about the oddness of the Icon icon choice.

THanks for sharing that. I've been uncomfortable with The Passion for a while, for several reasons, some of which I haven't been able to put a finger on. I think that article sums up some of what I haven't been able to articulate. I haven't seen it yet, and I the more I think about it, the less I want to.

Wow! It was a stroke of luck that I found your LJ!

I'm a former Athens resident, and aspiring musician, and my family has known Randall Bramblett for years, as well as Bill Malonee. (I think his sons were childhood friends of mine, in fact.)

I met Tim White back in October, and I liked him a lot.

My family is hoping to go up to Athens in May for Randall's album release party, if its taking place.

As soon as my friend and I get our webpage up, you'll be able to listen to our music! ^___^

The thing that bugs me about Schaeffer is that he's always trying to make himself distinct from what he WAS to what he IS, as if it's his "new-found mystical faith" that makes him hesitant to go see the movie.

Now, to be fair, as another "convert" from Presbyterianism to Greek Orthodoxy (just like him, in that regard), I do have the occasional tendency to do the same, however...

...I've seen the movie three times, and I think it's a fantastic work of cinematography, and also a boon to my faith.

I am not uncritical; the movie has its holes and its points at which I will question it. But my OVERALL impression leads me to recommend it wholeheartedly...and to recommend that you bring a box of kleenex with you as well.
