I *heart* the NY Times book section but sometimes I wonder what they're smoking over there at the Grey Lady. Witness this annotation of a Kathering Hepburn bio from their 2006 List of Best 100 Books of the Year:

KATE: The Woman Who Was Hepburn. By William J. Mann. (Holt, $30.) Mann's biography takes some complicated sexual algebra into account.

Complicated sexual algebra? Huh? Did someone at the NYT copy desk fall asleep or am I *that* sheltered?

I know she had some *interesting* friends but *still*.
