Just finished watching Rosetta the powerful tale of a young woman in France who scratches and scrapes out a living against incredible odds.

The film is #1 on the Arts and Faith list of The 2005 Top 100 Spiritually Significant Films

That's an interesting list, but it's really missing some biggies, like Hitchcock's "I Confess" and "Cry the Beloved Country."
